How to Setup the ClassiPress AD Categories

This is the 3rd video in our series on how to build a Classified Ads site using the ClassiPress theme.  In this video I we focus on setting up the AD Categories.  You can have as many Parent Categories as you’d like.  Also, each Parent category can have an unlimited number of Child categories.

Before you start adding AD categories in the wordpress admin we highly recommend that you first map out your categories on paper.  When deciding on the AD categories, think of it from a site users’ perspective.  You want the categories to be clear and simple.  Error on the side of having too few categories because you can always add more later.  If you go crazy and have 200 categories it’s going to confuse your site users and make things way too difficult. So keep in mind that “less is more” when deciding on your AD categories.

Another thing to remember with the ClassiPress theme is that AD Categories are setup the exact same way as Blog post categories. However, in the classipress theme they are actually 2 completely separate things.  The Blog is 100% separate from classified Ads and AD categories.  You’ll need to setup your Blog categories in the normal place in the wordpress admin which is under “Posts”.  This can be a bit confusing to understand at first but it makes sense from an SEO and a management standpoint going forward.

After your AD Categories have been setup, the next step would be to create a Twitter account and Facebook Fan page.  After your Twitter and Facebook accounts have been setup go to ClassiPress > Settings > click the General tab > paste your Twitter username in.  Your twitter account will then be linked up to the website.  We’ll get to your Facebook Fan page in the next video.

    • Hi – I’m not sure I’m understanding your question. Are you saying that when you “click on Ads categories” no Ads show up under the categories? If so, are you sure that the Ad category you clicked on has Ads assigned to it? Please provide more clarification. Thanks – Adam

  2. I installed ClassiPress translated into en and is written Post Ad FREE
I wanted to change to “Post Ad” which is more consistent with the original meaning Post an Ad
